Minister for Health and Medical Education Sakina Itoo, while replying to a question raised by an MLA, informed the Assembly that J&K currently has 51,000 cancer cases. What also comes to the fore is that this increased incidence is not happening in isolation, but is part of a global trend. What has also been placed on the table is that the government has constituted an Apex Committee to guide and formulate measures for cancer prevention, screening and treatment.
