Protecting tourism
The parliamentary committee’s recommendation for an integrated security and surveillance system at key tourist destinations in Jammu and Kashmir is a welcome step. The proposal for proper CCTV coverage, centralised monitoring, regular vulnerability assessments, security audits and clearly defined inter-agency standard operating procedures is not merely a security measure. It is an investment in the confidence on which tourism ultimately depends.
