The Spirit of Sacrifice
In an age increasingly driven by self-interest, comfort, and material pursuit, the idea of sacrifice appears old-fashioned to many. Yet, if one reflects deeply upon human life, one realizes that sacrifice is not merely a moral virtue — it is the very foundation upon which human civilization rests. Without sacrifice, humanity itself cannot survive.
Perhaps that is why Islam has devoted one of its greatest festivals, Eid-ul-Azha, to commemorate and celebrate the spirit of sacrifice.
The significance of this event goes far beyond the ritual slaughter of an animal. The essence of sacrifice is deeply woven into every aspect of life. If sacrifice were removed from human existence, no mother would lose sleep to raise her child, no father would work tirelessly for his family, no teacher would devote years to learning and teaching no doctor would sacrifice comfort to heal the........
