Millions of Americans will be cranking up the thermostat this weekend as a major winter storm is expected to hit much of the country.
The National Weather Service predicts the inclement weather and frigid temperatures will stretch from the Midwest to the East Coast starting Friday, and “widespread travel disruptions are likely,” says AccuWeather’s chief meteorologist Jonathan Porter. Many airlines have already begun allowing passengers to rebook their flights for free, including Delta, United and American. Be sure to check your flight status before heading to the airport.
Meanwhile, natural gas prices surged ahead of the snowstorm, suggesting supply at power plants could be disrupted.
President Donald Trump said he’s reached a “framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland,” and cancelled plans for tariffs on eight European countries providing military support to the territory. But he offered few details Wednesday, and did not directly say whether the agreement includes the U.S. taking ownership of Greenland.
