Wendy Brooks was elected to Lowestoft Town Council in May 2021, representing Gunton Ward, and went on to play an active role in several projects, local initiatives, and council committees.

Announcing her death, the town council said she had been "actively and progressively involved" in council life and had given freely of her time in service to others.
