Pub's future hangs in the balance as landlord accused of 'nasty assault'
East Suffolk Council's Licensing Sub-Committee met to review the licence of the Stanford Arms in Stanford Street, Lowestoft, after police applied for an expedited review, citing alleged violent behaviour by premises licence holder Benjamin Witton.
The pub has remained closed since July 22, when councillors suspended its licence as an interim measure following an application from Suffolk Constabulary.
Documents presented to the committee revealed 55 representations had been received in support of Mr Witton, while one person backed the police application.

The committee was shown a series of CCTV recordings which police said captured Mr Witton visiting the home of a man who had been involved in an altercation outside the pub earlier that evening.
