Police responded to reports of a collision in Stradbroke Road at 11.50pm on January 31.

Several cars along the street were left badly damaged after the crash, with large dents and wheels knocked out of place.

An eyewitness said: "About six vehicles were damaged and they weren't all close to each other.

"It went quite a distance, taking out the cars in turn."

Platt, of Borrow Close, Lowestoft, pleaded guilty at Great Yarmouth Magistrates' Court to drink-driving.

The court heard the proportion of alcohol in his breath had been 75mg, exceeding the prescribed limit of 35.

Magistrates fined him £575 and banned him from driving for 20 months.

He was offered the chance to complete a drink-drive awareness course that would see his ban reduced by 12 weeks.
