Plans revealed for new flats above former pharmacy in town centre

Developers are hoping to convert the upper floors of the former Well Pharmacy in North Walsham's Market Place into three flats in a bid to North Norfolk District Council.

The proposal, submitted by Divine Lettings, also includes two shops on the ground floor and the reinstatement of blocked openings across the grade-II listed building.

A planning statement said: "The project aims to secure the long-term viable use of the building while ensuring the continued conservation of its architectural and historic significance."

The flats will include one one-bedroom and two two-bedroom properties.

The bid has sparked concerns from the environment protection officer due the existing take-away next door, which is "likely to cause noise and odour impacts" for those living in the proposed flats.

The officer said: "I would request that the developer provide details about how the occupiers of the proposed flats will be protected against significant adverse impact from the adjoining take-away kitchen extract emissions."

The council will make a decision in due course.
