Schoolgirl, 14, died after pandemic caused lengthy delay in seeing specialist

Chloe Walker died at her family home in Great Yarmouth after feeling unwell and becoming unresponsive while preparing to go to school on March 3, 2022.

Paramedics arrived at her home address on Isaac's Road after her mother carried out CPR but she was pronounced dead at the scene soon after.

Miss Walker - who had congenital heart disease and used a gastrostomy to be fed - was referred to the gastroenterology unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London on November 22, 2019.

She had reported symptoms of vomiting and gastro reflux at an earlier meeting with a doctor that month.

This referral was not received until March 20, 2020 and it took until February 15, 2021 for Miss Walker to get treatment for her recurring reflux symptoms - with the Covid-19 pandemic cited as a factor in the delay.
