The blaze in Shipdham at Thomas Bullock Primary Academy on Pound Green Lane started at about 2pm on Thursday.

A roof was badly damaged, with initial investigations showing it was an accidental fire due to the heat.

Locals said they watched thick smoke rise above the village as fire crews arrived at the scene.

One neighbour said they went outside after spotting smoke from their home.

"You could see smoke, so we went out to see what was happening and there must have been about seven or eight fire........
