Zak Marketis was arrested last week after South West Norfolk MP Terry Jermy was followed through the streets of Thetford by members of the public demanding answers over the plans for nearby RAF Barnham.

Now Mr Marketis - a prominent figure in the town, familiar from years of activism involving its council - can be found camped on the grass yards from the base's entrance.

The site has become a focus of huge interest since it emerged the Home Office wants to house more than 1,000 asylum seekers there.

Groups of teenagers from Thetford, just a mile away, frequently visit the area, which is now patrolled by security guards, while motorists beep their horns........
