Vattenfall, which is owned by the Swedish state, wants to build up to 32 giant turbines on farmland across west Norfolk, East Cambridgeshire and west Suffolk.

The scheme, dubbed Redmere Wind Farm, could generate up to 303MW - enough to power almost 220,000 homes a year.

That would be more than four times the capacity of England's current largest onshore wind farm, the 68MW Keadby scheme in North Lincolnshire, and Vattenfall claims its new proposal would be the largest new wind farm across both England and Wales.

Each turbine would be up to 220m tall.
