Boy 'who jumped school fence' after teenage girl stabbed is arrested
A pupil was stabbed at Thorpe St Andrew School at about 10.20am today. The victim has been taken to the hospital with "minor injuries".
A 16-year-old boy has since been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He has been taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
It is understood that the suspect jumped over the school fence at the south site entrance in Laundry Lane following the attack.
Armed police are currently at the school, and students were told to hide under their desks.
Laundry Lane, near the school, has been closed by the police.
The school is currently facing serious questions after a visiting group of Jewish boys reported suffering antisemitic abuse during a football match.
An under-15 team from the Jewish Free School (JFS), in London, was playing in a national cup quarter-final at Thorpe St Andrew School when the shocking scenes unfolded.
A police spokeswoman said the stabbing "is not believed to be linked to a hate crime reported at the same school last week".
Broad Horizons Education Trust, of which the school is a part, has been contacted for comment.
