Josephine Ellis had just been for an appointment at a mobile clinic based in the grounds of the Hoveton and Wroxham Medical Centre when she lost her balance on her way back to her car.

An inquest into her death was told that even though the accident happened on a cold October day, no blankets were brought out for her by staff as she waited for the ambulance.

Paramedics eventually arrived and she was taken to hospital where she was found to have broken her hip. Her condition worsened and she died three days later.

At the inquest, Mrs Ellis' family raised concerns over the care she had received, prompting the hearing to be adjourned so the coroner, Jacqueline Lake, could further investigate the case.

Before the adjournment, Norfolk Coroner's Court heard about the accident, which happened after Mrs Ellis, a retired soldering technician, and her daughter left a hearing appointment based in the grounds of the medical centre just before 2pm on October 23.

As she turned quickly, she lost her balance and her footing. She realised she had seriously hurt herself and was left in a lot of pain.

Unable to move her, her daughter - a healthcare assistant - dialled 999 shortly after 2.20pm.........
