Much ado about... Lightning? Ancient theatre set to storm-proof itself with huge rods
West Norfolk Council has agreed its own plans to install 4.5m high lightning conductors on the roof of the Guildhall of St George in King's Lynn, where the bard is believed to have once performed.
However, a planning statement admits the rods will cause "some visual harm" to the medieval building.
"The existing buildings are quite unusual for a heritage site in that there are no real beneficial features such as turrets, spires or tall chimneys which rise above the main building volumes, to which air-termination rods can be fixed,"........
