High street could be closed to cars in afternoons after pedestrianisation backlash
West Norfolk Council has launched another round of consultation over its masterplan for Hunstanton, which now includes "flexible" restrictions.

It admits there was fierce opposition to changes proposed for the resort's main shopping street included in an earlier draft , with locals fearing it would harm businesses and restrict access for elderly residents.
"We noted the strong concern regarding pedestrianisation of the High Street, and in particular the effect this may have on the short term 'milk and newspaper shopping' visits to the High Street which was important for a town with an older demographic," the latest version says.
