Primary school applies for new entrance and fence to 'improve safeguarding'
Clenchwarton Primary School, near King's Lynn hopes to build a new entrance lobby to its site on Main Road.
West Norfolk Academies Trust, which runs the 200-pupil school, says: "The extension will provide a new dedicated visitor entrance and reception point which will significantly improve safeguarding and visitor management arrangements."
Visitors must cross the playground to reach the existing entrance meaning they and pupils can "unavoidably occupy the same space" during playtimes.
The trust adds: "Whilst the playground is always supervised by staff when in use by pupils, the preferred safeguarding arrangement would be to separate visitors from pupils prior to visitors reaching the school reception."
The new entrance lobby would be accessible via the car park.
The trust has also applied to build a higher fence around the school, saying the current one is "insufficient for modern safeguarding requirements".
