At first glance, Zohran Mamdani and Kathy Hochul appear to be a political odd couple: a democratic-socialist mayor who campaigned on bold and often-untested ideas and a moderate governor who prefers a more incrementalist approach to governance. But the two leaders have formed a consequential partnership so far, vowing to find common ground and move beyond the typically tense dynamic that exists between City Hall and Albany.

The mayor took steps to further that relationship on Thursday as he officially endorsed Hochul for reelection, as the governor did for him with her endorsement last year.
