Hundreds of Gateshead residents are standing firm against proposed plans for a substantial solar farm within the scenic countryside.

Exagen is planning a huge solar energy farm, covering 273 acres of green belt territory that stretches between Greenside, Coalburns, and Chopwell. With Gateshead Council ready to debate the plans, 106 individuals have formally objected , while another 450 signed a petition opposing the plans organised by Our Greenside Matters.
