California, you do, in fact, have the government you deserve.

The second of this series is from another governor, who I expect to be a regular subject for this series. The Honorable Gavin Newsom, governor of the Great State of California (the state of my birth, I say in shame).

The Democrat run government under Governor Newsom has built a wonderful botanical and rock garden over 10 lanes of one of the Los Angeles busiest freeways at the cost to taxpayers of over 114 million dollars, so far. The structure is advertised as a wildlife crossing to reduce the incidence of wildlife and vehicle collisions, particularly with cougars and butterflies. Yes, that is what they said.

Looking at pictures of this “alleged bridge,” there seems to be a major issue; only critters that can climb a ladder can use the beautiful “wildlife crossing.” Maybe cougars could work the ladder, but I figure most butterflies will choose to fly. I’m just saying. As of today, wildlife cannot use this crossing, which needs an approach at both ends and needs to cross a frontage road as well.

For perspective, I live in Montana, and we have at least 81 wildlife crossings structures that collectively cost much less than 81 million dollars. There is one thing Gavin Newsom and his Democrat cohorts in California do exceedingly well; that is wasting taxpayer money like nobody else. Kind of makes me want to move back to California! NOT!

California, you do, in fact, have the government you deserve.

After a 55 year career as a professional pilot in the military, in law enforcement, in the private sector, and in federal civil service, I am now retired.

In many of these positions I repeatedly took an oath to defend the United States Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.
