Mayor Jeromy Farkas is the key. Back in Naheed Nenshi’s days of running Calgary, it was Farkas who regularly held his feet to the financial fire regarding rampant overspending.
Now, Farkas sits in the big chair. Does his previous enthusiasm to hold civic administration accountable for every dollar spent prevail? Or will he be yet another politician, promising one thing when votes are up for grabs, before doing the opposite once comfortably in power?
