Opinion: Alberta's most underestimated economic engine is women
Every day, women in Alberta and across Canada perform work so foundational to our economy that the country barely notices it.
They raise children, care for aging parents, stabilize households, staff hospitals, run classrooms, manage offices, launch businesses and increasingly sustain sectors facing labour shortages. Much of this work is invisible, and its contribution remains politically undercounted and economically undervalued.
In Canada, we talk constantly about productivity, GDP growth and labour scarcity. In Alberta, we champion pipelines, critical minerals and infrastructure megaprojects. Those things matter.
