Polywork on the rise: 1 in 10 Argentines have at least two jobs
Polywork, defined as holding two or more jobs, has been growing in recent years. Recent data, however, shows that the phenomenon has intensified since President Javier Milei took office.
A September report shows that just over 2 million people in Argentina have more than one job (around 10% of the economically active population).
Over the past 8 years, the figure has gone from 8.7% of all employed in 2017 to 11.5% in 2025, the highest record along with 2024.
The rise of the gig economy tied to platforms like Uber and Rappi, added to the loss of purchasing power, are the main causes of this trend, which shows no signs of reversing.
The data comes from an analysis carried out by the consulting firm C-P, in collaboration with the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung foundation, based on official records from the INDEC statistics bureau.
“The labor market has been undergoing a significant transformation in recent years, due to a decade of stagnation in the Argentine economy and the emergence of global phenomena like the gig economy,” the report said.
