The lack of a sustained economic recovery, the main problem with President Javier Milei’s economic plan, has once again taken center stage.

Total tax revenue data for August was reported on Tuesday at AR$20.51 trillion (US$13,572 million at the official exchange rate). Although this was a 33.5% year-over-year increase compared to August 2025, consulting firm ACM calculated that, when adjusted for inflation, the y-o-y decline was 0.15%.

On Wednesday, Argentine Industrial Union (UIA) head Martín Rappallini issued harsh remarks against the government without naming it, calling for an end to “disparaging remarks” and “respect for those who produce.”

According to the UIA, the most important trade association in the sector hardest hit by Milei’s plan, the industry is 10% below 2022 levels. The decline in some sectors ranges from 25 to 30 percentage points.
