Workplace romance policies evolving as employers focus on risk management: expert
While the new movie Office Romance is putting workplace relationships back in the spotlight, the real story for employers isn’t whether employees are dating — it’s how organizations are managing the risks and realities, says workplace culture expert Jennifer Moss.
Although office romances have long been a staple of popular culture, they’re becoming less common, she says, pointing to research by Stanford University which found the percentage of couples who met at work fell from roughly 19 per cent in the mid-1990s to 11 per cent by 2017.
