46% of Canadian employers experimenting with AI aren’t achieving solid ROI: report

Nearly half (46 per cent) of Canadian business leaders are experimenting with artificial intelligence without achieving meaningful returns on investment, according to a new report by BDO Canada.

The report, which analyzed data from more than 500 Canadian employers, found only 18 per cent are actively embedding AI into their workflows and operations.

Solid ROI tends to stem from being able to scale a solution across a firm, says Bill Syrros, partner and national AI leader at BDO Canada, adding when generative AI was first introduced, a lot of organizations started buying the technology without identifying their business problems.
