I’m a caretaker for someone who is going through a health crisis. The problem is they don’t want to listen to me or anyone else, and it’s very frustrating. I need coping advice! – Helping Or Hurting?

Helping Or Hurting? – You just have to keep offering the right suggestions and hopefully they will start accepting them. There’s really not much you can do but your job. If I were you, I would try to put myself in the sick person’s shoes and feel a little compassion for what they’re going through. If someone’s at the level of needing a caretaker, they’ve lost a lot of independence and that’s hard for them to mentally handle. They’re probably just in between the state of denial and acceptance. They still think they know what’s best for them, even when they really don’t, and hopefully within the next month or two, they’ll start to accept your help. People run from help like........
