My teenage son used AI to write an entire essay and got caught. He says everyone does it and that teachers should expect it. I’m at a loss for words on if I punish him, talk it out with him or give up! AI is taking over and it’s scary. What’s the right approach? – Judgment Day

Judgment Day – AI is taking away everyone’s ability to problem solve, use creative thinking skills and communicate without asking a screen how to handle the talk. It can be used for good, but most people don’t understand what that means. Your son having the state of mind that this is just the times and teachers need to get over it, is absolutely insane! I suggest talking it out and a small punishment, like rewriting the whole essay over and using his actual brain! Critical thinking skills are so important to have as kids leave the nest and he is already behind the ball. Tell him it is unacceptable to rely on a computer to pass a class, see if he needs help with the paper (because he might have no idea what he is supposed........
