Arizona’s average for a gallon of regular gasoline dropped 12 cents in the past week to $4.62, following a trend seen across the U.S. The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is down 18 cents since last week to $4.24, marking the second straight week of decline. Pump prices are cooling off as the price of crude oil remains below $100 per barrel.

“Drivers will take all the relief they can get as they embark on summer road trips,” said AAA Mountain West Group spokesperson Aldo Vazquez. “But uncertainty lingers over when the Strait of Hormuz will fully reopen. That unknown means oil prices will likely not decrease dramatically as summertime gasoline demand climbs.”
