Opinion: Alberta unveils a plan to end gender-based violence: Now, let's follow it Alberta’s newly released 10-year strategy to end gender-based violence marks a promising step — but transforming this vision into lasting change will require more than good intentions. It will take bold action, resources and sustained commitment. Announced this month, the province’s strategy aims to prevent gender-based violence and support survivors with a multi-ministerial, system-wide approach. For those of us working in the anti-violence movement, this marks meaningful progress. It reflects a shift in how gender-based violence is understood by the province — not as a private issue, but as a crisis that demands co-ordinated, collective action.
