“In the United States, health care is a big business; in Canada, it’s a right.”

Prime Minister Mark Carney’s words became a rallying cry for Canadians, but they may become a target of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to “equalize” our trade partnership.

When Canada signed the North American Free Trade Agreement, and the current Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), important provisions were made that allow us to protect public health care by circumventing certain rules without violating these agreements.
