It shouldn’t be this complicated for the Women’s National Basketball Association to have a controversy-free week. Yet, as the league has risen from the depths of obscurity and increased viewership and popularity, it is becoming more known for its series of unfortunate events and unforced errors than for dynamic female athleticism on the basketball court. And one of the reasons for this is unquestionably that, for some weird, odd reason, the WNBA is having great difficulty agreeing on… wait for it… what a woman is. 

Yes, the players, coaches, marketing gurus, owners, and league executives of the Women’s National Basketball Association cannot define what a woman is. Not only can the WNBA not define what a woman is, but they also needed to create a task force to arrive at such a ridiculous conclusion. Of all the obstacles and hurdles the league has faced over its years of existence, being able to define what a woman is in the WNBA should be as easy as a layup — well, unless you are the Atlanta Dream’s Angel Reese.
