Have you ever dated someone older or younger than you?

How much older? Does your perception change based on the age difference, say five, 10 or 20 years? How about 30 or even 40 years older?

Comedian Kathy Griffin made headlines with a revelation that shortly after her split from her ex-husband, the 65-year-old star found love with a 23-year-old man.

That 42-year age gap means Griffin was likely older than her boyfriend’s parents. Before some label this as gross, it’s important to note that May-December romances are no longer considered as taboo as they once were.

Griffin claims that the relationship wasn’t intentional, and that she “accidentally fell in love with a 23-year-old.”

"Because of his age, he didn’t have the usual sexism, misogyny, and biases that guys my age tend to have. He seemed to see me. I know that sounds really corny. … But I felt really comfortable with him, and I felt very content just hanging out,” Griffin wrote in a piece for “The Cut,” published Dec. 31.

Although Griffin's relationship did not last, she has no regrets about it.

So, why did her relationship come to an end? Griffin explained that it happened the moment her unnamed partner told her that "he never wanted to have kids and that he could be with me forever.”

“I was like, ‘You don’t know that. You’re 23. You have no idea,’ ” she wrote. “I just wouldn’t do that to him. I mean, when I was 23, I thought I knew a lot ... but I didn’t. So I had to set that dove free.”
