There has been a lot of commentary on the differences between Resistance 1.0, the effort by anti-Trump activists to bring down President Donald Trump in his first term, and Resistance 2.0, the effort by anti-Trump activists to bring down Trump in his second term. There are some tactical contrasts, but the simple fact is, they're still at it.

This year's election season has featured two much-lauded figures of Resistance 1.0 as they tried to use their anti-Trump agitation as a springboard to public office. Alex Vindman, the former National Security Council staffer who in 2019 set off the first Trump impeachment, ran for U.S. Senate in Florida, and George Conway, the lawyer who talked E. Jean Carroll into suing Trump, ran for the House in New York.

Both suffered crushing defeats in Democrat primaries.

Conway ran in New York's 12th Congressional District, in Manhattan, the seat vacated by the retirement of Democratic Rep. Jerry Nadler. There were a lot of candidates. Conway finished fifth, with 6.1 percent of the vote. A wealthy lawyer, Conway loaned his campaign $2 million for the run. In all, he spent $5.7 million.

The money allowed Conway to mount a vanity campaign, to publicly fantasize about getting Trump, and to pound his chest about the massive damage judgment against Trump in the........
