Both Kinds of Standards – ASSOCIATED PRESS

Sooooo…you are not beholden to your own standards?!

Sooooo…you are not beholden to your own standards?!

In a truly perplexing argument in court, lawyers for the Associated Press are arguing that the outlet should not be held to the standards and definitions spelled out in…the AP Stylebook.

In the defamation case, lawyers for military veteran Zachary Young say the AP was wrong to describe his business of exfiltration efforts as “human smuggling,” a definition declaring illegal activity. His team noted that this was the case based on the AP Stylebook outlining that the term is for illegal acts.

Lawyers for the news syndicate have actually made the argument that the term did not necessarily apply to this particular report on Young, despite the use of that term dozens of times in other reports, both before and after its coverage on Young. Simply amazing and desperate contortions.

News Avoidance Syndrome – THE NEW YORK TIMES

Where are the Platner supporters now?!

Where are the Platner supporters now?!

When The New York Times came out with its report on Graham Platner and his past troubles with a number of relationships, the featured player in that exposé was Lyndsey Fifield. Hers was the most damning of testimonies, and she was also scorched by many on the Left for being an active conservative in D.C. Also brought up was some of her claims being unverified, which brought her more scorn.

After the article came out, Fifield said many of her comments and pieces of corroborating evidence were disregarded by The Times. Now she has sat in with The Free Press to give a fuller dose of background and clarify her positions. Notable too is TFP said it spoke with others who corroborate what Fifield went through at the time.
