Speaking at the United Nations in September 2025, Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand emphatically made the out-of-character Liberal Party assertion that the first pillar of Canada’s foreign policy is defence and security.
She then boldly stated that “Canada does not retreat from duty.”

This sudden surge of spirited Canadian nationalistic Trump-induced bombast coming from Liberals and those on the left is such a welcome change to us “old-fashioned types” who always loved this country, supported its military, and never left its side. Hopefully the Liberals’ and the left’s “Road to Damascus” conversion to Canadian nationalism will forever consign to the dustbin all the Justin Trudeau-inspired peacekeeping-nation, post-nationalist, decolonizing, Canada-hating, feminist foreign and defence policy bunkum we have had to endure for years.
