David Sovka: Do it for the economy, four-eyes!
So there’s a pretty good chance you are either wearing glasses right now, or forgot where you put them.
Good for you! From what I just spent on new glasses, I know you are genuinely helping keep the Canadian economy going during these trying times.
A couple years ago, the Canadian Medical Journal published a study which found approximately 57 per cent of Canadians over 20 years old have some form of vision problem requiring optical correction, usually eyeglasses. The number goes up to 80 per cent for people aged 50 and older.
When buying new glasses, the first thing to consider is finding frames that fit the shape of what trained eye-care professionals refer to as “your stupid face.” Fortunately, there are only a few face shapes to know: round, square, diamond, heart and clubs.
It’s best to first ask a friend for an objective description of your face shape. Sure, you look at yourself in the mirror every day, but to be honest, you’ve seen better, and so have I.
While you ask your friend for more detail on what “weird” means in this context, now is also a good time to break down crying just like in the jeans-fitting booth at Mark’s Work Wearhouse.
