New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) said on Tuesday (July 28) that it will revive its nationwide student protest unless other state governments follow Assam and Bihar’s lead to start withdrawing cases against those who participated in the agitation demanding Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation as education minister.

The outfit’s spokesperson Saurav Das wrote in a statement released on X, “Failing this, and as previously declared, the Cockroach Janta Party will have no option but to resume its nationwide protest to protect the students and young protesters who stood up not for themselves alone, but for the future of this nation”.

The statement has been issued in the context of a Supreme Court interim order, from a Bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, also issued on Tuesday, that said “no coercive action” should be taken against the agitators, with the qualification that they must have no prior criminal record. The other context provided in the statement is that the deadline for the Union government to honour its guarantees made to the CJP expires on Tuesday.

The outfit laid out the details of the top court’s order that it found “uninformed” and “therefore wholly unacceptable”. Das wrote in the statement that these include direction No. 4 of the court, which permits governments........
