Signed by 193 MPs, Notice to Impeach CEC Gyanesh Kumar Rejected in Both Houses; No Reason Provided

New Delhi: A motion to remove Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar moved in both houses of parliament and signed by 193 MPs was rejected on Monday (April 6) by both Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha chairman and Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan.
While the notices, moved separately in both Houses, were rejected, no reason was provided.
The notice in the Rajya Sabha was signed by 63 MPs and moved on March 12. On the same day, a separate notice signed by 130 MPs was moved in the Lok Sabha.
On Monday evening the two Houses released virtually identical bulletins announcing the rejection of the notices.
