New Delhi: Allahabad high court judge Justice Yashwant Varma, from whose official residence a huge amount of cash was purportedly discovered after a fire, has resigned, The Wire has learnt.

Justice Varma wrote to President Draupadi Murmu on April 9, tendering his resignation. He was supposed to retire in 2031.

The judge, who was at the Delhi high court at the time of the fire in March 2025, had maintained that the cash is not his and that the place where fire broke out was not part of his actual residence.
