Former hostage Emily Damari, who survived 471 days in Gaza captivity, married her partner Danielle “Dani” Amit in Tel Aviv on Thursday night.

The “reverse wedding,” an Israeli trend in which the event begins with dinner prior to the ceremony, included fellow former hostages and close friends Agam Berger, Romi Gonen, Doron Steinbrecher, Liri Albag, Danielle Gilboa, Omer Shem Tov, Keith and Aviva Siegal, and Gali and Ziv Berman.

Before the start of the ceremony, Damari, in a bespoke ivory double-breasted suit with wide-leg trousers, stood on a stool in order to lower the veil over Amit’s hair, grinning widely and kissing Amit under the veil before they walked down the aisle together.

Damari shared a photo of the moment in an Instagram story.

“Here’s the first story that caught my eye,” she wrote in the caption. “From behind I see [former hostages] Agam Berger and Liri Albag, so happy in my happiness and I just can’t explain to you in words what is going through my body thank you to the Holy One Blessed Be He on our miracle.”

Damari was released from Hamas captivity on January 19, 2025, after being shot and abducted on October 7, 2023, from her home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza.

She was freed alongside Gonen, taken hostage from the Nova rave, and Steinbrecher, a fellow Kfar Aza resident.

Damari immediately drew attention to her hand, now missing two fingers, which she raised in a symbol of victory.

Now 30, Damari was a member of Israel’s Border Police at the time of her abduction and was taken captive with her kibbutz friends, Gali Berman and Ziv Berman, in........
