Hezbollah chief: ‘When Trump threatens Khamenei, it’s our duty to confront this threat’
Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem warned that “a war on Iran will ignite the region,” and vowed to confront US threats to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameni, but stopped short of pledging to retaliate against Israel.
He added that mediators have indicated that Hezbollah could be attacked as part of a US-Israeli operation against Iran.
Last week, US President Donald Trump said a US “armada” was heading toward the Gulf and that Washington was watching Iran closely after a bloody crackdown on protesters. Trump had appeared to step back from military intervention, but has since insisted it remains an option, and appeared for the first time to call for Khamenei’s removal.
