Not long ago, Tucker Carlson’s political identity seemed easy to define: Republican, MAGA, America First, pro-capitalism, pro-life, pro-Israel, and one of the strongest advocates for free speech in conservative media.

Today, those same labels no longer seem as obvious.

The question is not simply whether Tucker Carlson changed, but whether the circumstances around him changed.

I believe it all began with Fox. Not the animal (although that would be fitting), but the news network.

In my view, this was Tucker Carlson’s real turning point.

For years, Carlson hosted the highest-rated show on Fox News and became the network’s biggest star. Then, one day, out of the blue, Fox News and Tucker Carlson announced they were splitting. The news surprised viewers, political commentators, and many of his own supporters.

What made the announcement even more surprising was that nothing in Carlson’s final broadcast suggested it would be his last. He ended the show the way he always did:

“We’ll be back on Monday”

That Monday never came.

The split was widely linked to the legal and financial fallout Fox News was facing at the time. While that story is important, what happened next is even more interesting.

Just before Carlson took the stage at a Turning Point USA event, Charlie Kirk said to him:

Carlson did exactly that.
