US Army helicopter pilots regularly train in Colorado because of its high altitude, mountainous terrain, and difficult conditions; it is unclear whether these factors contributed to Tuesday’s crash.

All four crewmembers aboard a United States Army MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter are safe following an aviation mishap on Tuesday afternoon. The MH-60, assigned to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR), crashed west of Denver, Colorado, in a wooded area north of Golden Gate Canyon State Park, CBS News first reported.

The “unplanned landing,” as it is being described, occurred during a training operation.
