The ultimate insult to the UK was Trump’s false claim that Britain and other NATO countries, including Canada, avoided frontline service in Afghanistan.

Trump does not skew the truth: he ignores it.

The initial British Government response that his comments were “disappointing” will have let down the bereaved families of UK service personnel, although Starmer belatedly described it as “insulting and appalling”.
