New Ireland campaign needs to work harder to present case for unity

Easter is always a time of reflection for Irish nationalism. As we reflect on the 1916 Rising and the hugely consequential events that followed, it is hard not to wonder what those who took part in the Rising and the War of Independence would think of modern Ireland and where we should go next as an island.

Last weekend, we heard many politicians within nationalism reflect on the legacy of the Rising and where the following steps on the pathway to reunification could lead.

We hear speeches with similar themes every Easter, about the road to a united Ireland being assured well into the future.
