Unionism fails to see it is in a worse position than ever

The Greeks had a word for it: ‘adiaphora’ – inessentials, matters of indifference.

Martin Luther, who was pretty good at Greek (he translated the entire New Testament from Greek into German in 11 weeks), was ruthless about ‘adiaphora’.

As far as Luther was concerned, if a matter wasn’t dealt with in the Bible it was unimportant, a matter of indifference.

Unionist leaders take the opposite view. They concentrate on ‘adiaphora’ and ignore what’s really important.

So, we’ve had, what is it now, five years banging on about the Irish Protocol, which unionists can do nothing about.

Then unionists moved on to which party is to blame for operating the Protocol after promising they never would.

As soon as the DUP agreed to re-enter Stormont they jumped on another hobby horse: culture wars. Absurdly blocking any manifestation of Irishness in this part of Ireland.

Some unionists have accepted reality and advised others to leave it be,........
