I hate AI and the way it is making us more stupid and lonely

I hate AI.

I hate the awful posters that make every small café look like they’re advertising a monster truck rally or a candlelit vigil.

I hate the annoying way it talks to people, agreeing with them constantly and placating every single concern.

We have become a society afraid of the slightest discomfort or inconvenience, so much so that people are asking a robot in their phone whether to break up with their partner or whether their behaviour is linked to autism.

Our neurosis is amplified and coddled, making everyone who uses it for these purposes slightly more off-putting.

In a world so starved of community, people are actively talking to no one, a voice programmed elsewhere to tell them everything is going to be all right.

It actively leeches from human creativity to create some of the worst music you’ve ever heard, the worst art you’ve ever seen, and puts actual artists out of work.

It’s also frequently wrong, hallucinates entire quotes and research, and says it with such confidence that people believe it.

Other types of AI are failing at their basic requirements too.
