Live updates: Senate panel takes up Blanche nomination; Congress votes on separate war powers resolutions

The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to discuss Thursday morning the nomination of acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to take the role permanently. Republican Sens. John Cornyn (Texas) and Thom Tillis (N.C.) have not committed to backing him, and their opposition could sink the nomination.

And Dr. Erica Schwartz faces a vote in the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee for her nomination to be director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The House convenes Thursday morning to vote on a Democrat-sponsored war powers resolution. The Senate will vote on a separate but similiar resolution.........
