Warner: ‘Remarkable in many ways’ there aren’t more dead U.S troops in Iran war

Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) on Sunday slammed the current U.S. conflict with Iran, saying that “it’s remarkable in many ways” the U.S. military hasn’t faced more death in the fighting, comments that followed the death of two service members on Friday.

“Well, first of all, condolences to the service members’ families, and it’s remarkable in many ways that we’ve not had more casualties. We literally have hundreds of seriously wounded, but I think we’re at 16 fatalities,” Warner said Sunday, commenting on the two service members’ deaths, on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“I would argue, Margaret, this is what happens when you start a war of choice. And as a member of the Gang of Eight, I can say unequivocally there was no imminent threat from Iran. You start a war choice without a plan,” he told the outlet’s Margaret........
